Position Summary:
Solix is seeking a Software Engineer to be the primary developer and manager of our existing SQL database and VB .NET user interface, with potential to evolve it into a commercial software package.
Responsibilities:
• Quickly become familiar with existing VB .NET application and make necessary bug fixes.
• Plan and execute under the direction of the project leader, make program additions and enhancements based on use case and specifications from users.
• Meet with users to understand their requirements; implement code that will meet those requirements in addition to providing flexibility, data integrity, and error handling.
• Manage time to complete features (test and de-bug all code changes) within project deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Maintain the current release cycle of existing code.
• Review and recommend alternative approaches to the current software and database architecture and product in order to minimize future custom coding.
Required experience and skills:
• 3+ years of enterprise software development experience, including all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
• 3+ years of experience primarily developing applications using VB .NET connected to relational databases, preferably SQL Server 2005/2008.
• Experience with professional software deployment.
• Experience with database modeling and design for large amounts of data with multiple metrics requirements in place.
• Ability to modify existing code base and implement new features.
• Experience with SCADA systems and database integration across different platforms.Knowledge of IIS, Active Directory, Windows Server and SharePoint is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage time efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experienced in a variety of software languages, database architectures, alternative software products and their applications.
Required Education:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with computer emphasis.
