Solix converts the algae biomass it produces at its Demonstration Plant into biocrude oil using its proprietary extraction process that removes the triglycerides from the biomass. Solix is interested in working with customers who would like to further refine or convert the oil into other products. Algae oil can be converted into biodiesel, green diesel or biojet. In addition, it also can be used for specialty chemicals, surfactants and lubricants.
Solix is also offering the residual biomass that remains after the triglycerides have been extracted. This biomass is rich in protein and carbohydrates and has potential as a source for various food ingredients or as an animal feed or for aquaculture. It is also rich in other products including amino acids, carotenes and antioxidants.
