With ultra low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) regulations, petroleum-based diesel fuel now is at a performance and competitive disadvantage. In petro-diesel, sulfur acts as a lubricant and without it engine wear is greatly increased. Biodiesel is sulfur free, yet has excellent lubricity characteristics.
